A Serie A club has opted to dismiss the holder of the Ballon d’Or

The Serie A club Udinese has decided to part ways with Fabio Cannavaro from his position as head coach, as reported
by Fabrizio Romano.

Despite the fact that the recipient of the 2006 Ballon d’Or saved the Friulians from relegation, they have chosen not to
continue their collaboration with him.The legendary Spaniard is close to securing a long-term deal with the Como team

It is noted that Cannavaro is ready for a new challenge in his coaching career and wishes to manage another team in Serie A.

This was Cannavaro’s first experience coaching in Serie A. Previously, he had moderately successful coaching stints in
Serie B with Benevento, and before that, he worked with several Asian clubs as well as the Chinese national team.

As a footballer, Fabio played for Inter Milan, Napoli, Parma, Juventus, and Real Madrid. He won the 2006 FIFA World
Cup with the Italian national team and was awarded the Ballon d’Or in the same year. Since then, no defender has received this accolade.

Udinese finished the season under Cannavaro’s guidance in 15th place in the standings of the elite Italian division.
