The Milwaukee staff gets the All-Star nod because Joe Mazzulla of East-leading Boston is ineligible
after coaching in the game last year.
Bucks head coach Doc Rivers and his staff will coach the Eastern Conference in the 2024 NBA All-Star Game
after Milwaukee clinched the best record in the East through games played on Feb. 4 among the teams with
a head coach eligible for the All-Star Game.
This will be Rivers’ fourth time as an All-Star head coach. He coached the East in 2008 and 2011 while with Boston and Team Kevin Durant in 2021 while with Philadelphia.READ MORE
Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla was not eligible because he served as a head coach in the All-Star Game last season.
Milwaukee had a 32-14 record before Rivers began coaching Monday. Adrian Griffin was 30-13 before being fired on Jan. 23. The team went 2-1 under interim head coach Joe Prunty and the Bucks are 1-2 with Rivers on the sideline.
The last head coach named to an All-Star Game after being hired midseason was Ty Lue with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016.
