Fonseca named Milan’s main transfer target. What are the club working on?

On 8 July, Milan’s new head coach Paulo Fonseca held his first press conference in his new role. During the conference, he addressed the club’s transfer targets, particularly highlighting the need for a new forward following Olivier Giroud’s departure.

Fonseca emphasized the importance of finding the right player for the forward position:

“We all know we need a centre forward. We are working together to find the right striker with the right qualities. If we want to play in the final third of the pitch, we need a player who can dominate in the final third.”

Fonseca also made a notable statement by wearing a badge of Ukraine during the press conference, showing solidarity with the country following a massive missile attack from Russia on the morning of 8 July. The former Shakhtar Donetsk coach explained his gesture:

“This is my personal matter. We are obliged not to let people forget what is happening in Ukraine.”

Fonseca’s comments and his gesture underscore both his focus on strengthening Milan’s squad and his personal commitment to raising awareness about the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
