Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group in talks to buy Bordeaux

The U.S. owners of Liverpool, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), are in the process of purchasing French
club Bordeaux, seeking to expand their football portfolio. Bordeaux announced on Tuesday that the
project to sell a majority stake to FSG has been presented to the Direction Nationale du Contrôle de
Gestion (DNCG), the body that oversees the finances of French clubs.

Bordeaux confirmed their ongoing negotiations and due diligence efforts with FSG in a statement:
“We are working, hand in hand with them, as part of the continuation of negotiations and due diligence.”

Bordeaux, a club with a storied history in French football, having won the Ligue 1 title six times
(most recently in 2009), is currently facing financial challenges. They are appealing against a decision
to relegate the club to the third tier and are seeking assurances of financial stability for the upcoming
season.

FSG, who have owned Liverpool since 2010, announced in March their intention to acquire another
football club. Bordeaux, with six Ligue 1 titles, four French Cups, three League Cups, and European
success, is one of the most decorated clubs in France, albeit currently in a distressed state.

The acquisition of Bordeaux would represent a significant expansion of FSG’s football interests, adding
a historic French club to their portfolio alongside Liverpool. The ongoing negotiations and due diligence
will determine the future of this potential purchase and Bordeaux’s financial stability moving forward.
