Oblak’s replacement? Atletico plan to sign Argentina goalkeeper

Atlético Madrid’s primary goalkeeper, Jan Oblak, is likely to depart during the current transfer window,
leading the club to actively seek his replacement. According to Fabrizio Romano, Atlético has already begun
negotiations with PSV’s first-choice goalkeeper, Walter Benítez. The Madrid club has offered Benítez a long-term contract, seeing him as a reliable option for the starting goalkeeper position for the upcoming seasons.

Real Madrid have found a way to earn another 63 million euros for the 2024/25 season

In the search for Oblak’s successor, Atlético had also shown interest in Andriy Lunin from Real Madrid and Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia. However, the focus now appears to be on Benítez.

The 31-year-old Benítez joined PSV in the summer of 2022 from Nice. In the previous Eredivisie season, he achieved 18 clean sheets in 33 matches, helping his team secure the Dutch championship.

Despite making his debut for the Argentine national team in March this year, Benítez was not included in the squad for the 2024 Copa América.
