Serie A newcomer confident of transfer of four-time Champions League winner

Real Madrid legend Raphaël Varane is poised to join Italian club Como in the near future. According to
Fabrizio Romano, the newly promoted Serie A team is confident of finalizing an agreement with the 31-
year-old French defender this week. Productive talks have already taken place, and Varane has given his
initial consent to the transfer. Como is now waiting for official confirmation from the player.

Saudi Arabian clubs were eyeing the Inter star, but he refused

Currently a free agent, Varane’s last club was Manchester United, where he spent the past three seasons.
Before that, Varane enjoyed a highly successful tenure at Real Madrid, winning the Champions League
four times and making a total of 360 appearances for “Los Blancos.”

Como, managed by Premier League legend Cesc Fàbregas, will be playing in Serie A for the first time since the 2002-03 season. The acquisition of a player of Varane’s caliber would be a significant boost for the club as they prepare for their return to Italy’s top flight.
