Rooney keen to prove himself as manager at Plymouth

The 37-year-old central defender Jan Vertonghen has announced his retirement from international football. His final match for the “Red Devils” was a 0-1 defeat against France in the round of 16 at Euro 2024. Ironically, it was Vertonghen’s own goal that sent France to the quarter-finals.

Throughout his career with the Belgium national team, Vertonghen played 157 matches, setting a record in the nation’s history.

This summer, Vertonghen’s contract with Anderlecht also expired, making him a free agent.
